In this post, Brian Hornback applauds Rush Limbaugh for donating 20 copies of his revisionist history book "Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims" to Rockford Elementary school.
Then he says "Someone cue the KnoxViews, BlountViews crowd to start complaining about Conservative propaganda in one of their Blount County Schools."
OK, consider the complaining started and finished. But we do have one other complaint. Brian could have at least made the references to KnoxViews and BlountViews into links.

Wonder if it was written for elementary schools on purpose or that's just what Rush could manage?

I feel kinda bad about piling on, but OTOH if somebody blogs, they're asking for attention. Anyway, the following sentence appears at the end of his tribute to the late Phil Hamby.
I know am probably after but not because of Hornback.
Sniff, sniff...
The pioneer of pioneers.
Poetry.

I did a story once about Hamby taking his estranged wife's little poodle dog out of her front yard and dumping it off on Papermill Road. She found it squashed flat a couple hours later.
Hamby and dogs
(in reply to Bbeanster)
Didn't he go after some lawyer's dog as well? Seemed like every time he had a personal issue he put it on his front page. Is that why Hornback considers him a pioneer?

(in reply to fischbobber)
One of Hamby's "stories" led to the sudden death of a former colleague of mine that I have always suspected was an accidental overdose brought on by stress and humiliation. He was a lowlife. I am among many people who was glad to hear he'd finally dropped dead like he deserved. I know that's a vicious thing to say, but he was a horrible person who hurt a lot of undeserving people.

(in reply to fischbobber)
I rarely ever saw Hamby's Journal, but I thought the front page always bore his wife's astrological forecast?
(Which given the former Mrs. Hamby's talents, Betty, should have meant that finding her poodle squashed wasn't any surprise to her :-)
Hilde, I remember that well
Hilde, I remember that well and share your opinion. He'd hired someone whom he allowed to write under a pseudonym to launch attacks on your colleague (who was also a friend of mine). His "reporter" went on to help bring down a UT president, iirc.
Those attacks on SF were the most vicious things I've ever seen in print – even worse than Hamby's repeatedly dissolving whatever corporate entity he was operating under to evade paying his bills. He owed every printer within a 50-mile radius and laughed about it. In the end, his deadbeat business practices caused him to lose the business to his former wife – he'd put it in her name and the judge said it was hers. That divorce proceeding dragged on for years.
Yep. I know who was directly
(in reply to Bbeanster)
Yep. I know who was directly responsible for it. That sociopath had already brought down the UT prez, a law professor and nearly a hospital admin before she was reduced to Phil Hamby and his trailer at the Broadway I-40 interchange. I don't know what happened to her after her peak of being photographed nude and bathed in roses by City View advertorial, but I hope, wherever she is, that her looks are more in line with a cold January morning changing coffee filters and ashtrays for Phil Hamby's slimy outfit.
With pioneers like that...
I'm starting to see why Hornswaggle idolized him so.
Things are coming back to
Things are coming back to me.
Hamby was a big supporter of Tim Hutchison until the annual media luncheon one year when TH failed to place the Hambys at the sheriff's table – and put Harry Moskos (who had long opposed him) there.
Hamby was pissed, and became a sworn enemy ever after.
He bought the Knoxville Journal masthead for about a dollar and a dime (actually $250, I'm reliably informed), thereby causing big blank spaces to appear on the resumes of people who worked for the real Knoxville Journal.
It used to infuriate him when we referred to our former employer that way.

Rogero
It sappeared that Phil Hamby was a huge supporter of Madeline Rogero. As in a positive above the fold article just about every week.
Nothing wrong with that and she was the most qualified candidate but it did surprese me to see it in a conservative paper. Any insight, insiders?
Hamby hasn't had a paper for
Hamby hasn't had a paper for years, Goose. He lost it in his divorce, probably 10 years ago.
You must be talking about the Focus, which is owned by Steve Hunley, who supported Madeline.

Oh, Lord.
The Truth Squat's delusional "explanation" of Jason Emert's footshot campaign debut is a beaut.
His supposition (near as I can decipher it) that the Metro Pulse Gloria Johnson story was a pre-emptive strike against Emert's campaign is wrong. Just flat stupid wrong. I hadn't heard anything about Emert since receiving his "Metro Pulse says I'm dying" email late last year. And I'd never heard of him before that episode.
And contrary to the TS's convoluted explanation, someone he solicited money from the day he announced told me he wanted the maximum amount.
I did, of course, do an Internet search on him last week and enjoyed the Miami Vice-ish pix of him at cocktail parties under the palms. His parents have clearly spent a ton on tuition.
