At first glance...
.... my thought was "what's wrong with Kristol's point? He's saying he hopes Obama will encourage liberals to be patriotic."
Then I read a little more carefully, and realized that he was saying "maybe Obama will encourage liberals to be patriotic, because they weren't before."
So, I agree with your assessment of Kristol: What. A. Dick.
But I'm also reminded of a bumper sticker I saw at Cafe Press, when I was shopping to replace my anti-Bush stickers: "Hey, Conservatives! Can we start questioning your patriotism now?"

"I'm not a member of any organized political party. I'm a Democrat." -- Will Rogers
Yeah, I'm still trying to
Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out what's more patriotic than wanting our government to, you know, abide by the Constitution, and, like, respect people's basic civil liberties, and, uh, maintain our status as a respected world leader, and stuff like that.
The answer
Isn't the answer obvious?
"I'm not a member of any organized political party. I'm a Democrat." -- Will Rogers
IQ
The intelligence of the NYT just went up several points.
Btu then there' still Friedman and Brooks to drag it down.
"The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice."
Such a piece of
Such a piece of work.
Kristol was a wunderkind. A card-carrying mensch. Graduated Harvard in three years, got a PhD, worked for Daniel Moynihan.
Worked for Dan Quayle, whom he proclaimed a future president, quarterbacked killing off healthcare during the Clinton administration, "discovered" Sarah Palin, whom he proclaimed his "dreamboat" and a future president.
Beat the drum for the Neocon agenda -- all war, all the time for somebody else's children.
Glad he's been laid off at the Times.
It's good he is done but...
he shore did talk purty.
I never believed that
I never believed that Kristol, all the Kagans, and others were looking out for this country's interests as much as they were looking out for Israel's.
I never believed that
And hoping to go down in history as the post-Cold War era's "Wise Men."

Newspapers are dying all
Newspapers are dying all over the company because they rely on advertising revenue, which is drying up. Left wing sentiment has zilch to do with it, regardless of what you want to believe.
