Sarah says Happy Thanksgiving, Turkey!
Submitted by Bbeanster on Fri, 2008/11/21 - 2:00pm.
Y'all have probably seen this, but I'm posting it for historical purposes. It's bizarre enough to sum up Palin's run for national office.
Gobble Gobble
*For anyone who doesn't know, she made the traditional trip out to a turkey farm to "pardon" a Thanksgiving turkey. Then she gave an interview -- oblivious her turkey's less fortunate mates getting decapitated in the background.

I watched that travesty last night on Countdown and then Mike Huckabee on CNN this morning bragging about how she 'took the wind out of Obama's sails' after the RNC.
I wonder how her IQ compares with that of a turnip.

And before one of or resident trolls comes on to remind us where meat comes from, I think we're all pretty much aware of that.
It's staging an interview in an abattoir, and showing up at a slaughterhouse in above-the-knee skirt, stiletto pumps and Burberry scarf. Evidently, this pardon deal is a "presidential" act that she decided to adopt this year. God, she's dumb as a bag of hammers.

A couple of still shots of that turkey funnel contraption at the bottom of this page... uh, probably best viewed AFTER next Thursday and not around meal time unless you're used to seeing farm carnage.
Personally I would rather be water boarded than lock up in a room listening to Sarah voice, listening to her voice is sheer torture and should be a violation to the Geneva Convention.
I'm not sure I'll be able to eat turkey after that. Thanks, Betty! I'm also not sure which is worse -- her idiotic, rambling, talking point remarks or the guy in the background of the carefully composed shot slicing off turkey heads while watching for his cues. What's up with that?
Submitted by Bbeanster on Fri, 2008/11/21 - 8:11pm.
The guy is probably strangling them when he steps off camera, then sticking them in the funnel thingie and cutting their heads off (or slitting their throats). The birds appear to be already dead when he sticks them in the funnel.
This is a surreal scene. And she KNEW what was happening behind her, but in her judgment it was no big deal. Way to shape that message, dope. Seriously, guys, does anybody still find her attractive?
One of my favorite people in the world is a Slovenian grandmother who can kill a chicken like other people pluck flowers. She never does it in front of children, always tells you to leave the yard if you are squeamish, and won't eat a chicken (or a hog) she didn't kill herself. Pavla for President!
True happiness is knowing you are a hypocrite. -- Ivor Cutler
I've been out in my (late) Grandma's back yard watching her snatch up a chicken and "wring its neck," pull off its head, drain it, pluck it, and fry it up in an iron skillet full of hog fat. Mmmm, mmm.

My mother was the youngest of seven sisters raised on a hillside farm in Cocke County during the Great Depression. She used to tell about a pet chicken that the family was halfway through eating one Sunday before she found out who it was.

Well, I called my teenage daughter into the office here, to see the clip, but she'd already seen it. Seems it drew some guffaws up on the SmartBoard in her high school psych class today!
Carmen just shook her head and muttered "It's good that she (Palin) will be separated from society up there..."

All I could think of was Dan Aykroyd and the Bass-O-Matic. And I think the camera crew embraced it as a gag, unbeknownst to Governor Ignoramus, because they framed both speaker and turkey grinder equally in a wide shot for the entire piece.
What could this woman possibly have been thinking--all the while demagoguing with crap like gas prices "that everyone knew" would plunge? (WTF!?) Another Leghorn-ism: "...about as sharp as a bowling ball." Hopefully this clip will have a long life for whenever this woman comes back down to try to advance her political career.

Let's see here now as to how to answer this question since at least seven other posts have been deleted. First, it is on the Internet and I don't see any warning signs that restrict entry to the site. Second, here in America, the last time I checked there is free speech and that allows for really good debate about important issues. Third, there is not one side only that rules in a debate. Fourth, I have nothing to fear from engaging those who may be on opposite sides of the belief about an issue than I am, so I try to interact with them.
You know, what this site should do, and I am serious here and leaving aside any cute little sayings to prove it, is to post a warning sign that you only desire people of the same kind as the members here or restrict it like other sites do.
You make a common mistake about freedom of speech -- assuming it applies to a private owned and run forum.
It does not. The First Amendment restricts government action, not private action. For instance, if someone came into my house, and started making racist remarks, I could ask them to stop. If they continued, I could ask them to leave. Their free speech is not violated, because its my property.
This forum is, essentially, someone's "house". They have every right to say you're not welcome here.
Also, not only are you not a registered user, you're just using the name "Nobody", which I believe is what the software defaults to. So, continuing my analogy above, you're just standing outside the windows of this house, hiding in the bushes, randomly yelling out your comments on conversations you overhear.

Hey, dizzouchebizzag... See that left sidebar with "About KnoxViews" and "Site Usage/Rules" listed there?
KnoxViews is a progressive (i.e. "liberal") community space for citizens of Knoxville, the surrounding community, from around Tennessee, or anywhere else to meet, organize, and discuss news, politics, events, and issues of interest to progressives everywhere.
This is a partisan website that leans Democratic.
Posts should be relevant to the site's intended audience, which is East Tennessee liberals, progressives, and Democrats interested in local, state, and national politics from an East Tennessee perspective.
All editorial decisions are final and management is under no obligation to explain them.
Pretty straightforward, hm?

What was the name of that TV show that was on a few years ago? It was about the urban doctor that had to go to Alaska to pay off his med school debts. Instead of going to Anchorage or Juenuo he wound up in a small town in the middle of nowhere trying to deal while all the unique (and some down right bat-shit crazy) locals. Anybody remember that show?
It seems to me that Sara Palin almost comes out of central casting for that show. I say almost because you just couldn't deliberately script her character and do it the justice she does it all by herself.
Submitted by SteveMule on Tue, 2008/11/25 - 1:57pm.
Yes, Northern Exposure! Of Course! Thank you, it was really bothering me that I couldn't remember. All I could think of was "North by Northwest" and that's an old (but excellent)Jimmy Stewart movie. But really, isn't Sara Palin just as looney as some of those characters?
What's really scarey is that out here in the land where the deer and the antolope play she's still real popular. I've heard many people say that they're looking forward to voting for her in 2012. Many of the folks out here are really buying into the "we weren't conservative enough, we gott'a get back to our roots" type of thinking.

You didn't answer the question of why you are here. You didn't say you want to debate, even, although maybe that's what you meant. If that's the case, your inability to answer a simple question tells all. Does that explain your politics?
You did state that you want a warning sign posted here. As MDB said, it's not your place to do so. Maybe I'd like to post some signs at Instapundit or other right-wing sites, but I know better than to think I can or should have that right.
If you do want to debate, try starting with some simple respect for other people and opposing positions. I suspect you've been a rude irritant here for so long, though, that you've totally worn out your welcome. And only now you ask why? If you could start again, I would register with a name, show some respect, and show some ability to discuss issues without resorting to standard GOP hate-talking points. You might ask yourself why there are plenty of debates here with others who do follow simple etiquette for interaction. If you still can't get along, I guess you're free to claim it's everybody else's fault. As for me, I admit that I don't try to get along with people who post GOP troll crap. I tend to return fire, if for no other reason than to treat them in kind. Do you like jerks showing up and acting like--well, jerks?
P.S. Here's that warning sign you couldn't find: Link...

Yes, except I loved watching that show. OTOH, every time I hear Sarah The Great White North Hope, I want to go screaming from the room. Except for the turkey slaughter video, which puts her in an educational and properly funny perspective.

Are they sticking the turkeys in the funnel and then cutting their heads off? Is that how they usually whack Tom Turkey?

Are they dead? That second one appears to have some life left in it after he put it in the cone. Maybe just spasms.
Apparently they are called "kill cones".
Surprise, someone has already related it to abortion.
