TCWN: Rarity Communities Violates Settlement Agreement

This site is a perfect example of blatant disregard for the rules and direct indifference towards causing conditions of pollution in our waters.

Check out the photos and the report. Why is it citizens and non-profits have to do the enforcement work? At least TDEC responds when alerted. Too bad they have to be alerted, instead of having the funding and resources to do their own enforcement.

gee, let's see...

It is not a 'urban' area so why is TDEC even fussing?

Sorry, snarky comment comes on the tail of TDEC adjusting Blount County's NOI MS4 to only include urban areas of the county. Urban = City.

I've seen this over and over again

Until TDEC learns that people will only respond to fines, the problems will continue over and over again. TDEC always takes the "we'll ask them real nice to stop" approach with repeat offenders.

Do we ask bank robbers really nicely to stop? Do we just tell a captured rapist that "you shouldn't be doing that, and we expect better behavior of you in the future." No. When you break the law, and the law dictates the consequences....

.. well, I don't know why I'm wasting my breath. With the takeover in state government, things aren't going to change for the better (not that the Dems provided any pressure at all for TDEC to do enforcement either. Both sides are well fed by the development lobby).

Sundquist eviscerated the

Sundquist eviscerated the WPCB and it has never recovered. They are doing what they can, seemingly concentrating on the bad actors.

I promise you that they can still make life hard on developers, even the one who try to do the right thing.
