Dick Cheney, Alberto Gonzales and a Texas state senator have been indicted in connection with abuse of federal prisoners in Willacy County, Tex. Cheney is connected to the abuse through his actions as Vice President and investments in Vanguard Group, a prison management firm that runs federal detention centers. Gonzales allegedly stopped an investigation into the abuses while U.S. Attorney General.

Trouble w/ link
Rikki, that link doesn't seem to be working?
I smell a presidential
I smell a presidential pardon brewing.
(By Bush)
Can that happen before the
Probably not! I was wondering if they would try to push the trial through before Bush leaves office, I don't know if this is even possible. I hope that it isn't and that this is just the first step in the right direction for true justice in America. Who is pushing for the investigation?
I wouldn't expect too much
I wouldn't expect too much from this. The charge against Cheney seems pretty meager, especially relative to the host of impeachable offenses he has racked up. What's most interesting to me is Cheney's investment in Vanguard Group. I either never knew or forgot that he had financial ties to the private prison industry.
It was private contractors who oversaw most of the torture in our military prisons and who trained the soldiers involved, the ones who were scapegoated and left to rot by our gutless, piss-for-blood Congress.
We knew Cheney and Rumsfeld had deep ties to defense contractors and manipulated U.S. policy to their benefit, and Cheney's ties to the prison industry have similar explanatory value. Ashcroft also had strong ties to prison corporations.
This indictment is mostly a final reminder of just how corrupt and depraved these bastards are and what a cheap coward Nancy Pelosi is for giving them a pass.
What's most interesting to
Came to a shock to me too! Isn't this somehow a conflict of interest to his position as VP.
Yes, you can be pardoned before a conviction
Review past republican administrations for precedent.
Preferred punishment
Send them to Gitmo for a little friendly interrogation. Hook their nuts up to electrodes, water board them and make them stay in little metal boxes for days on end. Then hood them, cuff them and send them to some little eastern European country for some quality jail time.
I hope youre joking
Uuuumm.... no.
Torture is wrong, no matter who the subject is.

But according to them
it's not torture. I always wanted some major media figure to meet Bush in an interview and challenge him to let his two daughters be waterboarded for a meager five minutes, and have him watch.
