The Times They Are A Changin'

Rush Limbaugh, Commander and Chief of all Ditto-heads, has referred to Barak Obama and Rahm Emanuel, the President-elect’s new White House Chief of Staff, as “Chicago thugs.”

It’s hard to believe that anyone would pay serious attention to a man who called for the incarceration of all junkies and dealers, while spending thousands of dollars on illegally obtained narcotics for himself -- but the Ditto-heads can be depended on to be Ditto-heads, no matter what. They all felt Rush’s pain.

In fact, they hailed him as a hero for facing his problem, even though his heroics only came when it looked like there was a faint possibility that he might go to jail. And if rehabilitation includes owning up to a problem, Rush is still a junkie.

I stopped listening to Limbaugh years ago after I realized he only had about 15 minutes of material repeated ad nauseam. This week, however, while shopping (of all places) in a Dollar General Store, the staff or manager had the radio set to Limbaugh’s afternoon rant.

Rush was declaring that the only way a Republican can be elected in this country is to become a Democrat. Further, he thinks those who have abandoned “conservative principles” should never be allowed back into the fold.

As I listened, the lines to a Bob Dylan song ran through my head: “… admit that the waters /Around you have grown/ And accept it that soon/ You'll be drenched to the bone./ ..you better start swimmin'/ Or you'll sink like a stone/For the times they are a-changin'.”*

Am I misunderstanding him?

Further, he thinks those who have abandoned “conservative principles” should never be allowed back into the fold.

So, basically, Limbaugh is arguing that the conservative movement should become a permanent minority party, and accept its status as such.

Can't say I disagree with him there! (And the last time I agreed with him was when he said how much of a Mannheim Steamroller fan he is.)
