And Barack is no wimp about responding, even interrupting McCain during a smear.
I think its a good chance McCain blows his top tonight.

There are elements of the format that will push in both directions, but the underlying subtext is that McCain's sliding in the polls, and he needs a game changer. As his friend Ms. Palin is fond of saying, he needs to "shake things up."

I voted yes because I think McCain will likely try and punch. I hope Obama stays steady and doesn't bite back, but he might do well to shame Mac publicly for the McPalin turn into an all-out scorched earth campaign. Not very honorable for a so-called American hero.

If the debate ends without memorable highlights, its a win for Obama, because he currently has the wind at his sails.
McCain is the one needing to shake things up.
Although it's the safer play for Obama to avoid confrontation, part of me wants to see him confront McCain on the crap the latter has been floating this week--ask McCain straight up if he supports or denounces the slime being peddled by the right-wing media.
Yeah, it would be lousy strategy, but I'd love to see Obama look right at McCain, and say "your running mate says I pal around with terrorists." Wanta endorse or condemn that statement?

I don't know how far Obama should go to put McCain on the spot, but I think he really does need to say something that demonstrates "backbone" in the face of the attacks. He can't pretend to ignore them completely and hope they go away.
What a pleasant way to describe the shoveling of manure.
"The economic situation has virtually ended John McCain's presidential aspirations, and no amount of tactical maneuvering in the final 29 days is likely to change that equation," [GOP pollster Steve] Lombardo wrote to his clients.
I'm voting no simply because I don't think the town hall forum is as conducive to flying sparks.

I'm wondering how well that $5K makeover will conceal McThuselah's throbbing blue veins if he is asked a pertinent question.

McCain got a makeover?
Hhhhmm, I wonder how the people who obsessed about pricey haircuts for John Edwards and Bill Clinton will respond to that.
