From a press release: "The gender gap evident in national polls on the 2008 presidential race is also visible in key battleground states, according to the Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP) weekly analysis of the women's vote. A review of recent polls in 14 states where the contest is expected to be very close finds gender gaps in every state; in each case, women voters support the Democratic ticket more strongly than men do. Even where voters overall are equally split or favor the Republican ticket, a majority of women voters favors the Democrats."

Shorter version?
Women are breaking Democrat.
Men are breaking Republican.
Status Quo: Intact.
Status Quo: Intact. Maybe,
Status Quo: Intact.
Maybe, but this time Democrats were supposed to split over Hillary and Republicans were supposed to pick up those votes and just for insurance to seal the deal they put Palin on the ticket.
Doesn't appear to be working.
But we'll see. This is going to be the longest month in American political history.
Its been worse
While October, 2008 is certainly going to be interesting, I'd say January 1861, as the entire Union collapsed, was a longer month politically.
(Yeah, I know, its not quite the same thing.)
