Five contributors to Outscape: Writings on Fences and Frontiers, the 2008 literary anthology soon to be released by the Knoxville Writers' Guild, will read at the Lawson-McGhee Library on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m.

Reading their work from the anthology will be poet and recording artist RB Morris, fiction writer Pamela Schoenewaldt, and poets Judy Loest, Laura Still and Dawn Coppock. The collection of work by 101 writers, humorists and artists is an entertaining and rich reflection of life in East Tennessee.

This eighth literary anthology of the 15-year-old guild received funding from the Tennessee Arts Commission, the East Tennessee Foundation, WUOT 91.9 fm, the Knoxville Voice, Kimberly-Clark, and The John C. Hodges Better English Fund. It will be released for sale Oct. 2 and may be purchased at Carpe Librum or online at Link.... Cost is $15 for nonembers and $12 for Guild members.

Editors Jessie Janeshek and Jesse Graves, both members of the University of Tennessee English faculty, said the pieces in the book are about crossing boundaries, "Boundaries are being broken in American politics, American technology, and American literature," they said, adding that each contributor somehow captured this feeling of leaving something behind, moving forward and finding new freedom.
