I will not forget...

Ran across this post on one of the other political messageboards I frequent. It makes some pretty salient points for us progressives. It's time for us to stop letting the GOP put us on the defensive. The failed policies of the Bush administration and the neo-conservatives need to rest solely on their shoulders.

Conservatives like to point out that the Dems have controlled Congress the last two years...we should remember to point out that even though we have a majority, it is NOT veto-proof, and we haven't even got enough of a majority to get a cloture vote in the Senate through. So, still, the GOP is blocking any attempts that the Dems in Congress might make to try to stop the slow slide downward of our republic by threatening filibusters and vetoes by the President.

I will not forget.

I will not forget that we were told we should attack Iraq after 9/11. I will not forget who told us that, and the reasons they brought forth for doing so. I will not forget who claimed that there were weapons of mass destruction. I will not forget the claims of terrorist ties in Iraq, and how attacking Iraq would be punishing those who perpetrated that horrible day in September. I will not forget who made these claims, and who controlled our government at the time. And I will not forget how wrong they were.

We will never forget and we must keep reminding those who do.

No, they won't forget either.

It's time for us to stop letting the GOP put us on the defensive.

So you're "on the defensive"? After 7 1/2 years of "Bush lied," "Bush=Hitler," "Bush manipulated evidence," "Cheney & Halliburton," "9/11 was done by Bush," "no such thing as 'Islamic terror,'" numerous bi-partisan investigations into manipulation of evidence (without a single shred of anything untoward), it's liberals who are "on the defensive"? Um, okay. To most thinking people, it's the other way around, but whatever.

The failed policies of the Bush administration and the neo-conservatives need to rest solely on their shoulders.
Er, yeah, 69 straight months of economic growth, millions of jobs created, home ownership at an all-time high (hate to tell ya' people, but 96 percent of home owners still make their mortgage payments), the average American family is wealthier than ever, no terrorist attacks on America in seven years, (I could go on, but do I really need to?)...
Um, yeah, "failed policies." Not like those "successful policies" of the previous administration that saw Islamic Nazi attack after attack on this country with zero response. Not like the recession that Bush inherited at the beginning of his term -which Al Gore even admitted on NPR, no less).
Er, I guess liberals like to refer to the dotcom boom as the "good ol' days." Too bad it went bust.

PS. Gas and food prices didn't start going up until Dems took control of Congress. Seems coincidental that as soon as the dems get in power, we get rocketing oil prices, we get high food prices, we get a "recession" ... and now the Dem prez solution is higher taxes and class warfare.
Great. I'm sure that kind of "change" will be just what we need.

finally some truth

Islamic Nazi attack after attack

Those dudes abducted me and got me really stoned and made me listen to Kraftwerk. It was pretty cool for a while, but then I was like "Holy shit! Towelheads!" and I pretended I had to pee and hid behind a couch until I passed out.

I woke up back home with a small incision and two stitches in my left armpit and signed on to KnoxViews the next day.

Did you get too many red

Did you get too many red cubes over at Knoxblab and have to cool off over here?

Stop the equating!

Why is it that so many people, it seems to be liberals doing it, want to equate Bush with Hitler? Hitler was a monster who is directly responsible for upwards of 10 million dead, including the genocide of one people. War was all over Europe, North Africa, parts of the Middle East, and just horrible. Those who either survived the horrors of Hitler's camps or their descendants do not need to be mocked by those who just don't like Bush. It's disgusting and needs to stop. The fact that a person does not a like a particular President is their business but desecrating the Holocaust is another matter altogether.

Standards applied equally

I'm completely in favor of universal application of this standard - too bad it came too late to stop the Iraq War.

"We see the next Hitler in Saddam," write [Ted] Stevens and [John] Warner. Well, let's see. Hitler conquered all of Europe from the Arctic to the Aegean and from the Atlantic to Stalingrad. And Saddam?

He invaded Kuwait, a sandbox half the size of Denmark, and got tossed out after a 100-hour ground war. His country has been overflown 40,000 times by U.S. and British planes, and he has not been able to shoot a single plane down. He has no navy, a fourth-rate air force, and a shrunken, demoralized army. His economy is not 1 percent of ours.

...or to stop Jonah Goldberg from comparing all liberals to Hitler in his Cheeto-stained stint at the wingnut welfare office.

I believe it was the wingnut

I believe it was the wingnut who said people equate Bush with Hitler. He's gone (the wingnut).
