South Waterfront Public Meetings Scheduled
Submitted by Rachel on Wed, 2008/08/20 - 12:49pm.
Two big SW public meetings coming up. The first is Thursday, 8/21, 6 p.m. at Kerbela Temple. The second is Thursday, 8/28, same time and place.
First deals with the new streetscape designs for streets between Barber and Lincoln. The second is the first in a series of meetings for obtaining public input on the design of River Plain Park, which will be built along the river in the same general area.
Meetings involving Hargreaves (consultants) are usually held the last week of the month because that's when they usually come to town.
The street/streetscape plan is being done by a local contractor (Vaughn & Melton). Not sure what dictated when it was scheduled.
Digit, if you were anybody else I'd cite the COK's budget and explain again about infrastructure TIFs. But you don't really want to know so never mind.
Is there going to be only one park/public area along the south waterfront? I think two to three would be pretty useful and bring people ot the waterfront to enjoy it.
The riverwalk will eventually run the entire 3 miles of the south waterfront and will of course be public. As Goose Creek point out, there is already a City park at either end.
In addition, there are plans for other public spaces, including an ampitheater.
The park to be discussed is the largest, and will be built on the floodplain behind the Phillips Avenue section of Old Sevier.

jbr, there are parks already on Scottish Pike and in the Island Home community off Estelle Circle. Another park is planned off Scottish Pike NE of Goose Creek.
The riverwalk at cityview will be a public space.

Big ideas with no money to pay for them.
You really haven't been keeping up, have you?
Will we see you tomorrow night?

Show me the money.
Sure wish I could attend one of these meetings. It might have been nice if they held them a little further apart.

I repeat, will we see you at either meeting?
Lucky for us, the digit finds the project so objectionable that he'll boycott it.
So we never have to worry about running into him in the park or on the river walk.
Hooray!
Rachel, the digit is 'chickenshit'. He does nothing more that spout off on 5 different websites and then hides behind his keyboard.

Sounds good. Maybe the library can have some outdoor movies there someday. Incidentally, a 'nice work' to the library on the outdoor movie efforts.
