John McCain had planned a trip to New Orleans that included an appearance with Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal and a photo op on an offshore oil rig to show his support for drilling in the Gulf.
Unfortunately the weather played a hand in the offshore visit and a minor collision and oil spill* in Old Man River didn't help either. Having the odor of diesel in the air could have been a problem even without smellovision.
*How bad could it be? The whole barge only contained 419,000 gallons.

Mistake?
Surely there must be a mistake.
We NEVER have weather related oil spills that pollute!
Perhaps you meant to say DRILL MORE HOLES offshore?
"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro."
Hunter S. Thompson
McCain
The weather gods don't like McCain-just like when Bushie was rained out of a Cades Cove press event.
