Here's the charter petition group's second quarter financial disclosure. Some prominent people wrote some big checks. On the disbursement side, having two colors for petitions cost them a premium.

"Knox Charter Petition" did not disclose the in-kind contribution worth $7,500 from the Knoxville News Sentinel for the four page color insert from June 25th.

This is so typical of this group.
So what's the deal Mr. Drinnen? You are supposed to be running this operation. Why would you let this happen?
Another question would be why do you allow your signature gathers to ask "Do you want to stop nepotism? You know very well that Knox County Commission has already passed a nepotism ordinance. Does having your people be dishonest promote your cause? Why would you allow them to mislead the public?
This is why informed people have such disregard and contempt for your cause.
This group is an embarrassment to Knox County. Clean up your act and have your people tell the truth. The real question your signature gathers should ask is, "Do you want to give away your vote forever in order to make the office of County Mayor even more powerful?"
KCP lies. I spent ten
KCP lies. I spent ten minutes arguing with one of the signature volunteers when I early voted. They have a sheet they go to if you ask them a question they don't have an answer to. Finally the volunteer told me he was trying to make some money and he didn't hazzle me at work and I should leave. He got upset when I couldn't stop laughing. I must have cost him at least ten signatures. I am going back after work.
Finally!
Somebody has come up with some strategery:

What's a professional manor?
Oye.
"However, you do it in a professional manor"
Better yet...
How well does he know this "community activist" where of he speaks?
Last time I saw this
Last time I saw this community activist downtown, he was (re)telling his conspiracy story -- the one that reaches back 40 years and implicates everybody who ever pissed him off in offenses like murder and drug dealing. This guy doesn't fool around with penny-ante stuff like charging stuff at J;s MegaMart on P-cards and getting sworn in early.
Oh, and, and!!!
I think doing it in a professional manor is illegal.
names
Are the Schmid's involved in this related to former Commissioner John Schmid? Before there was talk of Tim and Tim running for mayor there was some talk of John running. Also, I figure Gary Drinnen, who got beat by Stacey Campfield, is using this to further his goals too. Rarely does anybody ever do something like this soley for the good of the people. The kids getting the petitions signed are doing this to make money. They may not know much about it. But they sure are out in droves telling people to "sign a petition against nepotism." I tell them I'll only sign the liquor petition.
Heard from a friend...
These signature volunteers will leave if confronted on the false nepotism charge. A friend told me one of the volunteers packed up and left after being challenged on the nepotism question.
This is a lousy way to conduct any kind of campaign.
I would love to see the cheat sheet they use to answer objections. Anyone got one?
