Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama will be in the South this week. He is scheduled to be in Charlotte, NC, today and "is scheduled to make stops this week in Virginia, Georgia and Ohio..."
Anyone heard of a visit to Tennessee in the works?
Sen. McCaskill, MO, is quoted as saying Obama's economic plan:
"calls for cutting income taxes and providing a stimulus for small business growth. McCaskill said Obama will provide up to $1,000 in income tax credits for families and will eliminate income taxes for seniors making $50,000 or less a year."
Years ago there was "income averaging", where your federal taxes were based on your average income over 3-4 years (can't remember exactly). That was a pretty good boost for young people just starting out. They weren't slammed with higher taxes the first year or two their incomes started to rise.

Hmmm
Well, he is starting to get my attention with this economic plan.
Late to Charlotte
Obama's plane had to make an unscheduled stop in St. Louis. There was a problem with the pitch. "The autopilot and aircraft are just fine."
GEORGIA !!!!
Sam Nunn is getting real play as VP nominee.I've liked Webb but he could be a little to hot plus Obama's campaign seams to think they win Va with or without Webb.
Nunn on the ticket + massive black turnout + Barr getting 4% + the Democratic vote in Athens = Obama win in Georgia? In the South Obama is going after Va.,N.C.,Fla.& Ga..I also believe La.is in the mix.
Tn.is tough. The solid GOP vote in east Tn.is difficult to overcome.McCain will be very, very strong in these parts.
I'm going to update & say La. is not in the mix.
Nunn sounds like an
Nunn sounds like an interesting prospect, not that I'm that familiar with him. Do you think he's considered popular in his own state, Bill, enough to really sway voters to jump their beloved (but not grand) Ol' racism-friendly Party?
YES
Insider Advantage poll in Georgia
McCain-46%
Obama-44%
Barr-4%
undecided-6%
With Nunn on the ticket would you be more or less likely to vote Obama?
More likely-51%
Less likely-11%
no difference/undecided-38%
Georgia's on Obama's mind.
I've said it once, and I'll
I've said it once, and I'll say it again: Nunn is not a good choice.

I've said it once, and I'll
I've said it once, and I'll say it again: Nunn is not a good choice.
For a host of reasons, but let's start with the one where he completely negates Obama's message of change.
I'm watching Obama's choice for VP closely. Not so much because I think it'll sway many voters, but because it will give me some info on how Obama thinks.
Not so clear........
RealClearPolitics average has Georgia:
McCain - 50.0%
Obama - 43.3%
Barr - 2.7%
Not sure how Obama can do it there what with all of the racists in the GOP (tsk, tsk Factchecker!) and even with Sam None on the ballot. Maybe we should wait to see what changes Obama has in mind..............
I can't wait.
tin cup
We are going after Georgia's 15 electorial votes. If Nunn can help get em he might well be the favorite for the ticket.
It's no secret Obama's campaign thinks they will win Va.(13 votes)& will challenge in N.C.(15 votes).Got to go to Fla.(27)tho I believe it's a tough state for Obama.
Obama in Montana for July 4th? Thats 3 votes.
We want Colo.real bad..thats 9 votes.
All over the country the Obama campaign has been registering voters since early May.
I'm pumped about our chances of winning.
Tin ear
I didn't say that all or most Repugs are racist. Only that the party is (wink-nod) racist-friendly ("if you know what I mean," to put it in Rush's vernacular). Limbaugh uses racist code all the time and Cheney hearts Rush "Big Time." Mitch McConnell delivered a eulogy for Unrepentant Supreme Racist Jessie Helms, for gawd's sakes.
What more evidence do you need? The GOP has "stayed the course" with Helms's brand of racism. Trent Lott is another who tips his hand in that direction.
Bill Young....
If Ob-Mama wins half the states you list it will be a 40+ state landslide. I believe that's possible unless people start to ask the real question.....what changes, Barack?
Don't it make your red state blue
We are also trying to flip Ohio(20 votes).RCP average has Obama +4.5% in Ohio.
Plus going to try & flip NM(5 votes).
We have not won a southern state in 8yrs & other than Clinton both times in La.& Ark..Carter in Ga in '80 we haven't won a majority in a southern state for over 3 decades.
It's pretty bold to be trying to flip Colo,Mont,NM,Fla,Ga,NC,Ohio & Va from red to blue.
It's a new day.
What about Indiana?
Bill, why did you leave out the Hoosier state? RCP has Obama up 0.5%. W won Indiana by around 20 points and the state hasn't gone dem since '64. That would truly be a new day and a bigger flip from red to blue than any you mention! I'd send Jesse up there to campaign.
Indiana wants me
How in the hell are we ahead in Ind????Va hasn't gone our way since '64 either. The only southern state that didn't go Carter in '76.
Evan Bayh might help Obama,
Evan Bayh might help Obama, but probably not that much unless he's the VP or something.
Ob-Mama Ind. lead flips or flops?
Are you suggesting Obama's lead in Indiana might "flip flop" and go to McCain? That seems to be what happened to Obama's opinion about FISA, Iran being a threat, campaign financing, Iraq, welfare reform, etc., etc., etc.
Message to Jesse: Removing one's nuts implies one has a set.
Elvis logic
Like Elvis said "If the mop flops"
The mop's floppin our way man.
