I have a friend who has been there about 25 years, can't remember the exact number. Her last day is Monday. She has some severance, but not as much as the 12 weeks I got from a newspaper I'd worked at for just a few months when it closed.

There's a section in the south waterfront form-based code that reads: "No person shall install any of the following types of outdoor lighting fixtures: Blinking, flashing, moving, revolving, flickering, changing intensity of color, and chase lighting, except for temporary seasonal displays or for public safety."
BUT - there's an exception for "Landmark Sign illumination of cultural significant signs designated by the community as a landmark."
That is, of course, a reference to the JFG sign, which southknoxvillians made clear they wanted to preserve.

Mmy sympathies for the rank and file employees.I am sure some of the HR employees there will enjoy handing out the pink slips. That is what some of them live for.
This was forseen a long time ago. I am sorry for the St Mary's employees who know this is also coming down the pike for them as well at some point in the futre.

Baptist Hospital and all of the staff will be missed by many people.
I really wish they would save the pink buildings.
You're just biased because you were born there. (And the irony that you were born Catholic has not escaped me.)
Southsiders stay South no matter their religion?
And there are a number of temples and tabernacles standing as monumnet to the SouthSide faith.
