We're all thrilled with the surge in voter turnout during the Democratic primary, and all the new registrations and young voters coming out.

But keep in mind that Obama got 18 million votes. More than 121 million people voted int he 2004 general election, which Bush won 62 million to Kerry's 59 million. Even if you add in Clinton's primary votes and all the others, we're still only looking at about 37 million votes.

There's lots of work to be done. Now is not the time to get cocky.

OK, then. Carry on.

Get involved in the Obama campaign!

For those interested, you can e-mail Gloria, an honest-to-god Tennessee Democratic delegate, who has been working tirelessly on the Obama campaign for the past several months, and she can add you to her Sunday evening e-mail, wherein she lets you know what you might do to help.

Psst, Obama is going to have a campaign office on Gay Street, right here in River City...

Among other opportunities, you can help to (wo)man a table on Market Square during Sundown, Farmers' Market etc...

True story, whilst helping a few Friday nights ago, a lumbering blond man made a bee-line for our table as soon as he spotted the Obama posters.... He strode forcefully up, and obviously had something to say...

He stuck his hand out to shake up and down the table as he proclaimed, "Sevier County Republican, gladly voting for Obama, and thank each of you for being here!!" Folks are very excited here in the bible belt, republican stronghold of East Tennessee to support Obama.

E-mail Gloria to become involved, it's a great experience!
