New York Begins to Alter Policy on Gay Marriage

Gov. David A. Paterson has directed all state agencies to
begin to revise their policies and regulations to recognize
same-sex marriages performed in other jurisdictions, like
Massachusetts, California and Canada. In a directive the
governor's legal counsel, David Nocenti, instructed the
agencies that gay couples married elsewhere "should be
afforded the same recognition as any other legally performed
union."

I'm thinking that the bigots against gay marriage are not planning on voting for Obama in the general election to begin with.

Yes, but maybe they were not enthused about voting, given their party's candidate. But now they might have their own (ahem) coming out to vote for McCain.

It's become a popular GOP strategy, and this time it's just appearing to the party on a silver platter.

I'm thinking no gay couple is selfish enough to risk a Bush third term in order to slightly hasten this long overdue process. Well, maybe Cheney's daughter.
