A couple of Memorial Day Weekend updates from the City of Knoxville...

• City outdoor pools (Ed Cothren Pool at 1737 Reynolds St. and Inskip Pool at 4204 Bruhin Road) will be open Saturday, May 24 through Labor Day weekend. Operating hours are Monday-Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. Pools are available for after-hour party rentals throughout the summer, beginning this Saturday. Contact Ed Cothren Pool at 544-7840, Inskip Pool at 687-9919.

• City of Knoxville Memorial Day Schedule: City of Knoxville offices will be closed on Monday, May 26th in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. Waste Connections, the city’s household garbage collector, will run its normal schedule on Monday, May 26th. There will be downtown trash collections on May 26th. The city’s recycling centers will remain open through the holiday. The city’s Solid Waste Management Facility, located at 1033 Elm Street will be closed Saturday, May 24th and Monday, May 26th for the Memorial Day holiday.

Don't forget the non-essential folks

Thanks. In addition to pools, trash and recycling, representatives from the Policy and Communications Department are at your beck and call, or at least your call. I just looked up the "beck" part and that does not work so well in this format. I bet that phrase will soon end up in the graveyard of idioms from classic TV movies.
