KNS: Loudon City Council OKs Pilot travel center

In September, Pilot filed a lawsuit against the city charging that the wording of a 2005 ordinance prohibiting "truck stops" within the town was vague and that zoning maps of the site were incorrect.

Under terms of the settlement, Pilot will drop its suit against the city, cover all legal expenses from the dispute and agree to build a smaller version of the center.

Pilot's attorney Greg Isaacs also represents Lamar Advertising in their dispute with the City of Knoxville regarding digital billboards.

Its too damn bad the city

Its too damn bad the city cant make them move the Pilot truck stop on Lovell. I would like to encourage all of the Haslams to experience the joy of driving along Lovell Road during the morning, lunch and afternoon rush hours. There is nothing better than being stuck behind dozens of semis trying to turn ACROSS two lanes of traffic. Its even more exciting when they pull out in front of you and block traffic for minutes at a time while trying to get back on the interstate. Cant beat Knoxvilles urban planning can you?

The last two sentences of

The last two sentences of the article really tell the tale. The city did not have the money to go up against Pilot.

I'll take bets on how long the ban on overnight parking and idling lasts. That's if it is ever enforced at all.

Are there any examples where

Are there any examples where the Haslam's did not get something in this area they strongly wanted that a typical citizen, or group of citizens, where on the opposing side? I mean this as a serious question, not a snide remark.
