They are being nice aren't they?
Even when stating the facts about WV's demographics and racist ways. It's not like they're being treated to Limbaugh methods. And the WV Dem elected reps are often right leaning and/or corrupt.

Not everyone is being nice. I've read more comments about trailer trash and bigots in West Virginia from Obama supporters than I can stomach. Now that the primary is over, I expect that will stop.
Yeah, there are trolls out there but I suppose I was discounting them since they're not folks to be taken seriously. Sometimes I wonder if the trolls aren't stalking wing nuts trying to stir things up and give the liberal sites a bad name. I know it seems that way to me on Kos diaries and I've seen several right here. I'm not generous to many politicians or commentors myself most times but I do try to be civil and even respectful if the subject is genuinely struggling with issues.
So I must concede that excluding trolls is a caveat to my earlier statement.
Being from the mountains myself I should also admit that there's more than a grain of truth to statements about the number of and stridency of the bigotry that exists in all those small mountain towns and "coal camps." I know the town where I grew up there was a sign just outside town, near the state line, as late as the late 60s that stated "Nigger, don't let the sun set on you in ****", indicating it was fine if they came and shopped but they better get on home to their "coal camp" holler quickly as possible.

I believe that about 15 years ago a black couple that lived in Halls had a cross burned in their yard. Gotta love East Tennessee white trash/rednecks/racists. Halls sure does "have it". Looks like we share something with West Virginia.
Added snark:
Does this mean Democrats are uneducated?
Does this mean Democrats are racist?
Trivia:
Woodrow Wilson in his second term was the last Democrat to win the general election and not carry West Virginia.
It would have been nice if the state had voted that way in November, 2000.

I'd rather be cycling.
It appears West Virginia went Republican for President in:
2000 - Bush (as did 29 other states)
1972 - Nixon (as did all except MA and DC?)
1956 - Eisenhower (as did all except 6 Southern States and MO)
1928 - Hoover (as did all except 6 Southern States)

Oops, sorry I missed that year.
How is it that more states went Republican in 2004 than did in 2000? I just don't get the mentality.

30% of WV Democrats voted for Bush in 2000. Then they voted for that ass again in 2004 by an even greater margin.
Well, as I said before.
Bush was their second choice, they really wanted to vote:
Jesco White for President!
