I just talked to friend who was one of the 40 or so people purged without warning or severence pay. Apparently IdleAire has hired a "chainsaw Al" to "fix" things but it doesn't look good.
Odd who got terminated...There is some great programmer/IT talent available for hire, all of a sudden.

IdleAire is beyond out of money. They can't pay severance but the people deserved a heads up. IdleAire hasn't even paid the city and county property taxes on equipment that they got all the grant money from.
I heard 2nd hand a truck driver said the Idleair setups at truck stops are frequently avoided because they require the drivers to back out of them. It's apparently enough of an inconvenience they are not used. He said one in the Atlanta area allows them to pull thru to leave. He has always seen it packed. You cannot get a spot.

Many locals were looking to cash out big time on a public offering that never came that would give the ownership 10 times what their initial investment really was.
The local business community is so fickle and so full of gullible money mongers that people would climb all over each other to buy stock in a company that never made money. It's easy to see how Joe Taylor had such an easy time scamming some of Knoxville's wealthiest, best, and brightest all the way down the tubes.
If it's too good to be true, it probably isn't real anyway.
Fortunes and financial success are extremely difficult and those who have made piles of dollars (other than local physicians) have made in it locations other than Knoxville and East Tennessee. There just isn't much money in circulation here anymore and the disposalble income for the bulk of the region is not much beyond the national average.
Ragsdale is being investigated for pouring ten grand down a hole?
