KNS: Lawsuit comes up at forum

Bob Wolfenbarger, a 2nd District resident actively involved in neighborhood issues, is one of a group of 16 residents suing Commissioners Scott Moore and Paul Pinkston for allegedly perjuring themselves during last fall's Open Meetings Act lawsuit...

Wolfenbarger is seeking an appointment. The article quotes Pinkston as say he would have no trouble serving with Wolfenbarger and that he doesn't hold grudges. There are other highlights from the forum, including Lumpy saying he will lean towards the top vote getters in the primary.

Appointee Forums

I thought Bob Wolfenbarger did a great job at the appointee forum last night.

If you look at his resume online, you can see that he has participated in dozens of land use, transportation, and environmental issue task forces in the last few years, and has invested a great deal of time in civic activities and community service. He understands better than most of the commissioners what the pressing issues are, the causes, and possible cures.

When he was asked about the lawsuit by Ivan Harmon, he said yes, he was the lead plaintiff in the ouster lawsuit against Moore and Pinkston, but that he felt it was the right thing to do on principle - not that it was a personal issue against Moore or Pinkston.

I think it was Harmon that then asked about the Midway Road lawsuit and Bob explained he was not a plaintiff in that suit.

Tony Norman asked if being involved in a lawsuit against two of the commmissioners would affect his ability to serve with them. Bob said that he didn't think so, because under the direction of the law director, they are not supposed to be talking outside of commission meetings anyway and he didn't think he should be penalized because he was an advocate for fair and open government.

When asked by Tank Strickland why he didn't run for election, Bob said that there were two outstanding candidates already in the 2nd District who had already declared for the seat - Amy Broyles and Cortney Piper.

Scott Moore and Paul Pinkston did not have any questions or comments for Bob or for any of the candidates for that matter.

You can watch the video for yourself when Brian gets it posted at Political Knoxville.

Resume

What are you basing that on?

Land Use

He's been actively involved in just about every major land use plan on this end of town for the last decade or more. I have had many discussions and worked with him time and again on issues over the years, as have many other neighborhood groups.

I think he has a really good grasp of how our land use policies affect almost every aspect of Knox County, from jobs to schools to economic prosperity to environmental health.
