Postage rates rising again - 42 cents in May

Buy those Forever stamps now! Not that a whole cent will break the bank. The post office has 5 billion Forever stamps in stock to meet the demand.

under the new law regulating the post office that took effect in late 2006, the agency is allowed to increase rates with 45-days notice as long as changes are within the rate of inflation for the previous 12 months.

Oddly enough, you can still mail a letter from Costa Rica to anywhere in the US for about 25 cents. Go figure.
