I've never been that big a Clinton fan, although I voted for Bill twice. Plus I hated Hillary's vote on the war and thought she'd moved too far to the right over the last few years.
But neither do I think Hillary is the devil and Obama sent from above to bring us all together in love.
The odd thing about some Obama supporters who talk so much about "unity" and "bringing us together" is that it only seems to mean unified under Obama's leadership.

My math shows Hillary's still got the lead on delegates, it'll be interesting to see what happens next week during the Potomac Primary. Electoral-Vote.com ain't got much on polling data.

Superdelegates are unpledged and can switch at any time. The media shouldn't even be reporting them at this point except as a footnote. Among pledged delegates Obama is now up about 70 delegates. He was up 25 after Super Tuesday and picked up about 45 more last night. This is an estimate but it's close.
Hillary MUST win the Maine caucus today. If not, she's done. Camping out in TX and OH sounds like Giuliani in Florida. It won't work.

Mathematically it's not true that HRC is "done" after Maine, biz. Ohio and TX have some insane amount of delegates; TX has a lot of Hispanic voters; HRC is ahead by double digits in Ohio polls. Also, they're not caucuses, which means our girl will have an edge. Stay tuned.

I think those are perfectly natural feelings, Rachael. This a serious time in our history and you are a passionate intelligent person, so why wouldn't you feel crazed when someone seems to you to be making wrong choices about who to support? I do. It makes me NUTS! I simply can't fathom it.
Political fights are by nature usually not pretty. Sure the bell has rung and I'm out there slugging along with others, but the reality is that it is only a fairly short fight in the realm of things. It will go on a number of rounds and nobody really knows the outcome. While we are in there supporting our competitive candidates we identify with them. We feel the blows. We deliver them. It's just a fight though. After the votes for the nominations are in, we'll regroup. We'll re-think things. When the general elections come around, we'll all have decide whether or not we want to fight alongside the winner or get out of the ring. That's what I am trying to keep in mind. It's not an easy thing sometimes. I liked it when Obama said, "Hillary and I were friends before this and we'll be friends after". That's the kind of attitude I'm trying to own. It's not easy though.

Forgive me, Rachel, if I misinterpreted your approach to other people's opinions. Not all of us have cultivated such a Zen attitude yet. While I do get "crazed", I can assure you that was only a figure of speech and that I am not really kicking my cat in frustration, babbling, or banging my head against the walls. My style is to speak my mind and to let others do the same, then let things go.
Also, please know, it does NOT make me nuts that you voted for Hillary. Why in God's name would you even think that? I have never once suggested I had any personal investment whatsoever in who you (or anybody else) did or didn't vote for. I express MY opinions and the opinions of other people whom I happen to like on these posts. Personal vendettas are just not my bag.

Carole, what I don't understand is how you go over the top in one post, and when someone responds to it, then you say that's not what you meant.
Perhaps it would be helpful if you to remembered that hyperbole and exaggeration do not translate well as words on the screen. Particularly if that person does not know you personally and doesn't have a feel for you personality.
Plus, and don't get me for stereotyping here, I think that there are some Southern ways of communicating and interpretting communication that you haven't quite learned how to finesse.
And, I don't know if you mean it or not, but I do see how someone would take your statements about how they vote or don't vote personally.

Your personal insights into the workings of my mind, and your analysis of how natal geography might have influenced me, may be appealing entertainment for you, but defending against them somehow feels like a waste of time.
I'd prefer to get back to the issues, and by that I mean discussing the issues, not giving advice on how to write English Composition I-type blog posts. I never signed up for that course.
Obviously, you know nothing about me. Your imagined North/South problem is truly ridiculous as I have lived most of my life in the South. I left the North when I was thirteen, and I've only had a couple of stints of being a dweller above the Mason Dixon line since then.
I don't change positions, I try to explain and qualify. No I am not perfect. My words are not perfect. Sometimes I'm not successful at it, but I always try to avoid anyone thinking I am personally attacking them because I never am.
I like EVERYONE on this board. The Rachel thing was a misunderstanding. She somehow thought I was referring to her when I was talking about Hillary supporters in general. When I realized she thought I was pointing to her personally, I responded in order to assure her I wasn't. Obviously that attempt to assure her failed, but I did try. Enough said about that.
The truth is I have the utmost respect for everyone on this board and I especially appreciate the fact that people don't get personal here. The minute that starts to happen I'm gone. I like public forums on issues, but I hate toddler-like attempts to reap scorn on other people.
