Ugh! Yuk! The fat lady is ruining my dinner?
Who's next in line? Tall people? People wearing mix-matched socks?

Read it and weep. (link...)

I'm writing my representative to support a bill which would ban from restaurants those who cannot see the difference between a smoking ban and a ban on fat people.

Have at it Master Banner.

Thanks, you've just proved my point, and the fact that some people in this world have a very hard time recognizing irony and humor when they see it. It was a bit tongue in cheek you know...though probably inevitable.

It's pretty clearly a bill intended to either stir up a fuss or "raise awareness." Though of what I'm not interested enough to find out. However, given that is was introduced in Mississippi, I'm going to shoot in the dark here and say it's some redneck lobbyist's ideer of pointin' out how yew kin take this anti-tobakker stuff too dad burn far. Purdy soon 'em ol' boys'll come after the fat people, and Mississippi restrunts'll have to plum shut down. Ayup.

Standard practice

I thought it was standard practice in hot shot New York nightclubs that only beautiful people were allowed in the door.

Or is that just what you see on Tevee.

Hilde's exactly right. I

Hilde's exactly right. I know nothing of the legislative history of this bill, but I'd venture an educated guess (from having covered the Tennessee Lege for four years) that this was written by a Big Tobacco lobbyist and is either a poison pill or a parody, to be taken seriously only by those who are so happily nicotine addicted that they'll be taking off their masks and sneaking smokes in the bathroom.

I think the Mississippi AG was a leader in winning the big settlements from Big 'Bakker.
