An excerpt from Edwards' speech in New Orleans today when he announced he was withdrawing from the race:

It makes me sick...

...to know that instead of this fine person and American, we may get stuck with John McCain for four years. There is simply no justice in this Godforsaken cesspool we call American politics.

We now have the final four:
1)A Rookie Senator and protege' of Joe Lieberbitch.
2)A Bush Lite corporate whore that's emotionally unstable and hides behind her husband when challenged.
3)A filthy rich, neocon sympathizer and ultra-conservative Mormon paranoiac.
4)A common thief with a limp and jowls like Alvin the Chipmunk.

Variety is the spice of life, eh?

I guess I'll be standing behind #1 barring some bazaar twist in the tale and provided Yoda doesn't enter the picture, but this election just took a dramatic turn for the worse. Happens fast, doesn't it?

BTW
Does anyone know exactly what "suspending" means? He said he was "suspending" his campaign. His people used the word also. Is that the same as quitting in politispeak? First time I've ever heard someone say that in this context.

Hopefully this also played on FOX

So we will know that Edwards and his cats weren't the only ones who caught it ...

I find the language in both these notations to be offensive -- embedding the b word into a bastardization of a name and stating that someone is emotionally unstable are both going beyond what passes for civility. Fuss and criticize, but you don't have to resort to being mean in the process.

They are what they are

And I honestly couldn't care less what you think of my language.

Edwards voters - keep voting for change!

Obama on Edwards exit:

"John Edwards has spent a lifetime fighting to give voice to the voiceless and hope to the struggling, even when it wasn't popular to do or covered in the news. At a time when our politics is too focused on who's up and who's down, he made a nation focus again on who matters - the New Orleans child without a home, the West Virginia miner without a job, the families who live in that other America that is not seen or heard or talked about by our leaders in Washington.

John and Elizabeth Edwards have always believed deeply that we can change this – that two Americans can become one, and that our country can rally around this common purpose. So while his campaign may end today, the cause of their lives endures for all of us who still believe that we can achieve that dream of one America."

John Edwards was not my candidate, but he did recognise the time for change is now. Just check out his comments in this video:

Obama = Change, Edwards = Change, Clinton = Status Quo

Left with no alternative

I've been hoping for the best for years now, clearly I'm not going to get "best". I will never vote for a Clinton so Obama is all that's left for now.

There's no delusion, he won't win in November without some sort of divine intervention, but if Obama wins the primary, I will vote for him. If Hillary does, my days of supporting the Democratic party in both word and dollar will be over.
