You might think that the big story today on CNN Wolf Blitzer Command Center or whatever it is would be the fact that the lead soldier of the GOP Contract On America had to resign in disgrace under indictment after allegedly engineering and strong-arming one of the most massive corruptions of the U.S. Congress in history.

But of course, you'd be wrong.

The big story on CNN Wolf Blitzer Panic Room or whatever it's called was that a black Democratic U.S. Representative had to defend herself against assault by a racist law enforcement officer. And it was somehow her fault for being assaulted. And even worse, Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic Party don't have her back.

And, even more ironically, the teaser for the next story was "why can't Democrats get traction?"

America is seriously broken. I blame the "liberal media". And spineless Democrats.

I'll give you that DeLay

I'll give you that DeLay resigning is bigger news. But you really think that McKinney was just defending herself? Seems to me the one doing the assaulting was her.

And when did the McKinney

And when did the McKinney incident happen? Anyway, interesting point of view from a "no duty to retreat" guy. :)

Heh. I concur DeLay is the bigger, more recent story. But from what I've read, she was asked to stop, did not, security placed his hands on her and she pushed. I don't think disobeying an order from a LEO falls under 'duty to retreat.'

McKinney was being  jerk

McKinney was being  jerk but that is a huge nothing compared to DeLay going down in flames, and blaming a Liberal Democrat plot for making him do all those illegal things.

Via digby: "Soon-to-retire Rep. Tom DeLay (R.-Tex.) said today he would personally file an ethics complaint against Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D.-Ga.) for striking a Capitol Police officer should no other House member do so first."

Security Gategate

This story will eventually just go away. However, it would be interesting to see some video on this, but apparently there isn't any for that location. Come to think of it, there were no video cameras working at the Pentagon on nine-eleven, either.

I can see on the one hand someone who stands a chance of losing his job or being sent to guard the dumpster, and on the other a person who is quick to react and in a hurry. I think it is realistic to assume that she was carrying, at the least, a purse and probably a briefcase in one hand, and in the other a cell phone which, if it is a recent model, might weigh a couple of ounces.

Fox News has made a lot of her not wearing an identifying lapel pin, which would have made a difference in her being detained, even though the guard purportedly didn't recognize her personally. So, does this mean that somewhere there could be a member of Congress knocked out in the restroom while a terrorist strolls right past the security gate? It's something to think about.

Statements like this is why the Democratic Party can't get any traction. How ridiculous. McKinney acted and conitinues with arrogance anc conceit as well as play the race card that so many liberals and "progressives" fall for.

Pelosi just published

Pelosi just published another one of her press-release style posts over on Daily Kos and just got piled on. Hilarious.

I doubt she comes back to read the responses, but the netroots is collectively quite unhappy with Nancy Lou.
