If anyone believes that some commissioners don't remember that they went to breakfast at the Board of Realtors and picked up a big check, I've got a bridge I'll sell you.
And I suppose it was just a coincidence that The Development Corporation was there with their posters and pitch?
Even if the checks weren't presented as an actual bribe, it certainly would make one think about tit for tat, eh? If you had someone giving you a $1000 contribution and then told you they just happened to have an important project they wanted you to step over here and have a look at, what would you think?
This isn't the only sunshine violation on the Midway Road project of course - I'd bet money that there was several occasions when two or more commissioners discussed and "deliberated" on Midway Road outside of the public's view. It was a done deal from the start - and the pre-arranged votes was just business as usual. It was, and still might be to a lesser extent (or maybe they're just more discreet these days), just the way they were used to doing business.
