Never saw this in the local news, doesn't mean it wasn't reported. The Sweetwater Valley Farms recall was on Nov. 28th. I don't know if this is the type of cheese people buy ahead for Christmas. I do know a lot of folks like to buy Sweetwater cheese because it is local.

Sweetwater Valley Farms, Inc. of Philadelphia, TN is recalling its Tennessee Aged Southern Mild Cheddar Cheese (yellow) and Tennessee Aged Southern Sharp Cheddar Cheese (yellow) because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

These products were distributed between October 18, 2007 and November 26, 2007.

They had a recall just 7 days earlier for Southern Cheddar Jack Volunteer Special Cheese. Hope they get their act together.

The company I work for gives this cheese

to employees and clients every year and we received a phone call from Sweetwater Valley notifying us of the recall. I'm afraid this may put them under.

It is behind them, according

It is behind them, according to my dad who is a friend of the owner. Dad gave us each a block of the stuff after Thanksgiving and we all still alive and kicking.

No problems.
