If you've got any signed and numbered Jim Gray prints, they may have just become more valuable. This sounds like a pretty major loss for Gatlinburg and Jim Gray.

UPDATE: Jim Gray tells WVLT that some pottery is salvageable, but all the paintings were ruined. Fortunately, none were originals. Damage is estimated at $2 million.

Sorry to hear that. His gallery there was an inspiration. He used to have some originals displayed in the center but it sounds like they weren't there or weren't damaged at least. He still has the Church Mouse gallery on Glades Road and a gallery near the Pigeon Forge Mill I think.

He's also got one at the Liz Beth store over on Park West Dr. in Cedar Bluff.

Yep. We've got a nice print of his from there that we've had for 20+ years.

If you don't have a Jim Gray hanging

in your office, your den, or your living room, you're not from East Tennessee.

His art, particularly his watercolors and prints, are as much a part of East Tennessee culture as anything else that has happened around here since the National Park was established in 1933.

When Fred Thompson is elected President, there will be a by god signed Jim Gray original 6 x 8 canvas hanging in the oval office.

I don't...

I was never able to afford one. I was born and raised in East Tennessee. Unfortunately, my family failed to provide a silver spoon for me to teethe on in the hospital. Perhaps old Freddo would be so kind as to rectify that error in my East Tennessean upbringing????

Oh, but I forget...Dear Freddie is from ALABAMA.

Never mind then.

I like Jim Gray's art but

I like Terry Chandler's better - just my preference.

I hope ole Freddie won't

I hope ole Freddie won't hold it agin me.

I was born and raised in Knox County but I don't have a Jim Gray either. I have a lot of Earl Grey and I have three Eleanor McAdoo Wileys.

Unfortunately, I have nothing from her famous sister Catherine except a first edition of If Winter Comes that was given to her for the Christmas of 1921.
