Not so exciting so far, but

Not so exciting so far, but brutal.

(LSU ought to be ahead by about 14, but they wouldn't let their QB off the leash there in the first half.)

One play...That's all it came down to.

Tennessee got out coached

Tennessee got out coached and out played. Congrats to LSU and Perriloux.

I'm not usually a defender of the coaching staff,,,

But this one lies on the offense. The defense practically destroyed the Bayou Bengals physically. We knocked half their offense out of the game. The hits were hard, furious, and often.

But the offense - the dropped passes in the 4th quarter, the misreads (Ainge missed a wide open slot receiver and forced it into press coverage, and then he missed a linebacker dropping into the middle when he had a check down receiver all alone in the flat).

The Vols played their hearts out, but it all comes down to execution at crunch time, and we didn't do it, and they did.

One aside - I would really have liked to have seen more of the "G-gun" spread offense. Gerald Jones really has a knack for big plays out of that formation.

For some of us lesser

For some of us lesser conference alumnui,

We are the champions! UCF wins their first conference championship (44-25 over Tulsa) and heads to the Liberty Bowl.
