WHAT A GAME!

Tennessee hangs on for an SEC Championship bid after four overtimes. Congratulations to the U.T. Volunteers, and to the University of Kentucky Wildcats for making U.T. earn it in one of the wildest SEC games ever.

I didn't actualy GO to Lexington to see the game in person, so I'm not sure if I'm a high enough paying Vol fan to comment, but...
A Kentucky player grabs the facemask and rips the head of a Vol after the blocked kick at the end of the 2nd OT, and that's NOT an enforceable penalty.
Next OT, Foster throws the ball harmlessly in the air after getting tackled going for the 2 point try (nice call, by the way), and that's a personal foul, 15 yards, and the vols start from the 40 in the 4th OT...
WTF? College overtime rules are pathetic. They either need to go back to the tie (where Kentucky goes for the win in regulation), or adopt the sudden death rules like the pros.

I agree! I can't believe they didn't call an UC on KY for the flagrant and dangerous face mask. What crap! At least we prevailed in the end. Go Vols!!! Beat LSU!!!
I was livid at those calls (more specifically the fact that one counted, but the other did not), but here's why: the facemask was during the play, and the Foster ball toss was post-possession. The rule states that post-possession fouls count on the next possession in overtime. That doesn't make it any less nonsensical though. Incidentally, I noticed that UK went ahead and went on defense first. I would be interested to know if the penalty would have put the ball on the 10 yard line had they elected to take the ball in that overtime period.

Ya Way.........
Yes, we did prevail. Thank goodness. I thought my Dad was going to go to Kroger's when it went into overtime. (inside family joke) .....And Mom was about to walk around the circle.........but there are too many cars in the way.......
They yelled for the orange....stomped and sighed.......
And sat back when we won the game.
One thing to mention....... in this house..........we all bleed orange.
Go Vols!

I was there, just 10 rows from the last overtime. A roller coaster. The Vols missed some, but made plays when it counted. Kudos to the Cats for a heck of a game.
BTW, one thing that doesn't get mentioned much, but the Pride of the Southland kicks butt. Some band parents/grandparents sat behind us. Awesome halftime show. Very active during the game. They make bands at other schools look like high school bands. I was across the aisle from the saxaphones and clarinets all day.

The Lady Vols soccer game (they beat Florida) that I was able to make it to this season was rounded out by the small horn section that sat in the middle of the stands and were just amazing. Pride of the Southland, the only version of Rocky Top that I never get tired of hearing.

watched it in Louisville at my brother's with a bunch of Kentucky fans. What a wild game. For a minute I was worried about his big flat screen. Never seen so many people lunge at a TV to try to influence the outcome of a game. Must be the 1080p. We were mentally exhausted after the 4 OTs.

I agree the college OT rules are bizarre. Makes for a high scoring game, though, I guess.
P.S. I thought the call against Foster was a bogus hometown call. U.T. responded exactly as I expected from the 40, or at least how I hoped.

Ah, but have you ever heard The Flying Burrito Brothers' version? Gram Parsons may have been from Florida, but he knew a kicking tune.
