Several whistleblowers have come out lately to describe a much wider effort by the government to eavesdrop on American citizens. Could this have something to do with the alarming amount of people who now find themeselves stuck on the Terrorist Watchlist for reasons they can't comprehend?

750,000 people are a lot of suspected terrorists.Ted Kennedy is one of them. So is Rep. John Lewis.

It starts when you can't buy a ticket at an airport kiosk, then you are detained for questioning, then after a wait that can last an hour, if you're innocent of any wrongdoing in the judgement of the offcials checking you then are probably let go. But, it doesn't end there. It happens everytime you want to fly somewhere, and there is no way to get yourself off the list quickly.

How do these names get on this list? So far that seems pretty fuzzy. It's Top Secret you know. It's classified. It does seem pretty logical however that a lot of these names ended up there due to some telephone conversation they had, some word that popped them into the suspect list. Where else could so many of these names come from?

He he yeah, my name is surely on many "lists"

My "dangerous" reputation probably goes way to the 1960s in Chicago. I was very active then in the anti-war movement. I publicly support civil-rights and have done a lot of grassroots organizing for women's causes. It worries me sometimes, but hey what good is freedom of speech if you're too afraid to use it? I feel it is my patriotic duty to be a good citizen and be aware of any tyrants who might be hiding behind blue suits, and, when I can, to speak for those who can't speak for themselves.

Every time I see those lawyers, journalists, teachers, and community activists scoopped up in places like Pakistan I shudder a little, but then those people are putting their lives where their mouth was, so it seems cowardly to be afraid.
