Knoxville's 82nd annual Veterans Day Parade will be held tomorrow, November 9, 2007, starting at 10:45 a.m. The parade will be along Gay Street and is sponsored by American Legion Post No. 2.
Veterans Day was originally Armistice Day, designated at the end of World War I in 1918. Actual Veterans Day is observed on the month, day and hour that the guns fell silent in World War I - 11 a.m., Nov. 11, 1918.
Many brave men and women have fought and died to allow Americans the freedoms we enjoy each day. America is the greatest nation on earth. We should all honor America's veterans and those presently serving in our military.
I just wanted to say thank you for letting Vets know about this parade. We need more Vets in elected office to understand what it means to go to war before we go to war as a Nation.

Also, according to an email I received from CBID, be advised that towing will begin on Gay Street at 8:30 am.

Thanks, I'll just find a nice side street spot with a meter. I'm sure I'll have no problem with that.

about why the parade was held on Friday instead of Monday (or Sunday)?
It's usually held on November 11, I don't know if there is a good reason.
I think it's always on a Friday. Maybe the Friday nearest the actual holiday?
