A group seeking a recall provision in the Knox County charter has named a leadership organization made up of neighborhood representatives and community activists.

A charter amendment will require a petition signed by 15% of registered voters, or 34,000 signatures. The Knoxville News Sentinel has details.

not 34,00 but . . .

As of earlier today there are 226,526 active voters and 27,918 inactive voters for a total of 254,444 registered voters.

15% of that is 38,167.

Apologies for the error

The figures I received from the Election Commission on October 24 were apparently incomplete. I accept responsibility for the oversight.

If it helps any, the Drive's goal is 45,000-50,000 signatures. Even with the network currently in place, we anticipate being able to meet that goal.

Thanks for the update, Greg. I'll pop over to get complete information from the Election Commission tomorrow.
