good deal
Thank some deity the city didn't get that $1.2 million. It's much better that Redflex get that money because we just don't need it here in Knoxville. In fact, with our city and county coffers absolutely running over with money, it's about time we found someone else to give money to.
From An Accountant's Perspective
Interesting, in less than a year a total of 71,994 incidents have been recorded and 45,258 notices have been mailed by Redflex. It would appear that both Redflex and KPD personnel are reviewing each incident with some degree of care before mailing the notice. And, $1,950,379 collected that’s an 85% collection rate before, I would assume, the September notices were collected in October with less than 400, according to the recent NS article, being challenged.
It appears to be an effective, efficient system for solving a serious problem.
Unfortunately, the system does not address those who exit Alcoa Highway onto Kingston Pike at what are essentially blind intersections with long approach lanes.
Can someone tell me
Great report. It shows the city is getting data & I think that's important. Can someone tell me though exactly what "incidents" are and why they are different than the notices mailed?
Also I'm curious about the stat that says only one accident was due to the Redflex factor? How would they know that unless the driver responded directly to Redflex?
I know I'm now putting the pedal to the metal if the light turns yellow when I'm in an intersection. I hate going fast, but I can't afford a ticket. It's not really speeding because it's usually only for a few feet, but it does make me more anxious than usual. My eyes are on the light more than the road. If someone darted out or turned illegally at that moment, I worry I might not notice them.
I'm resigned to the lights, but only time will tell how effective they are. One month's report could lead to false assumptions. I think we need to wait for more comparatives.
no control data. where is
no control data. where is the comparison to ALL intersections?
