Why are these organisms becoming drug resistant? Too much exposure to antibiotics have made them mutate. They have become less susceptable to the drugs.
Notice they don't mention it, but food is one of the reasons. Livestock and chickens suffer incredible environmental stress before they are killed. This includes dirty conditions and massive overcrowding, not to mention the hormones and eternal lights kept glowing to make them think it is daylight and increase growth. The chickens you eat are fed antibiotics and even farm raised catfish get drugs because their immune systems can't keep up. So why wouldn't your body be consuming unknown amounts of antibiotics too?
