I caught the end of the Intergovermental meeting. Lump was certainly in fine form - especially when his declaration last week that he discussed the stormwater ordinance outside Commission meetings was brought up.

John Ownings recommended that to cure potential Sunshine violations, Commission needed to reconsider the ordinance (which is significant, of course, because the final result could be very different with this 11 person Commission).

Lumpy vehemently denied "deliberating," whined about being picked on, and eventually threatened to go through the record and find other Sunshine violations by other Commissioners if he was "singled out."

He interrupted Ownings while Ownings was answering a question, prompting Ownings to tell him "I haven't finished my statement yet."

He'd just started picking a fight with Tony Norman when Chairman Craig Leuthold cut him off and adjourned the meeting. The last thing I saw before the screen went black was Lumpy stomping out of the room.

It was truly his best performance yet. And of course, the funniest thing is that if he'd just learn to keep his yap shut, none of this would have come up. I bet his friends the homebuilders are REAL happy with him about now.

And oh yeah, end result was that Intergovernmental took no action, but there will be a motion to add reconsideration of the ordinance to next Monday's full Commission meeting.

This is not meant as a defense of Greg Lambert, but I am guessing there are a number of Commissioners who discussed the stormwater ordinance with other Commissioners. Lumpy's admitted talking to other Commissioners, but it's a bit unfair to act as if he's the only one. That is, unless they all want to go on record as never having discussed this issue.

Without defending any of them, I've always thought that had another faction than Moore's come to power it would have been the same behvior, different faction. Lumpy is a lightening rod while the others pretend like they are so above the politics. I've realy grown to dislike even the politicians I like over stuff like this, ie Larry Smith likes to talk about always doing the right thing, but probably is just benefitting from the fact that the rest of the bunch is SO bad, he looks good, and when he runs for something else, he's on record as having gone through all the resumes. I saw him in action 4 years ago on the MPC when it was obvious a fix happened between two meetings regarding the Fort sanders hotel.

From what he has said, I think he might not be able to tell the difference between what is common practice and what is the law. It must be driving him mad. He knows all the other commissoners talked about things in private and that this has probably been the case all along. He admitted he had "talked" to people, but seems to think this is different than "deliberating" with them. In the end, I agree Lumpy is probably just admitting something all the other commissioners have done. He just doesn't realize the implications of saying this openly.

I found it comical that Scooby chastised Smith for talking with the Mayor during the meeting. Smith posed a question the Mayor asked him about (filling the seat for the 4th) and Scoobie screeched "did the Mayor tell you to ask that question?". Then something like "we can't be back there talking like that, everything has to be out in the open. If the Mayor has something to say he can come to the podium". He proceeded with an inquiry about implementing a procedure/policy to prevent this from happening in the future. It visibly bothered him and he couldn't seem to let it go.

Then in the following meeting regarding benefits/wellness center, Scoobie said numerous times: "when I've talked to the employees that is what they are telling me" and "the employees keep telling me they won't use it", etc.

I guess his next resolution will be that anyone can lobby commission except______________________ (fill in the blank with all political enemies).
