As someone who just followed
As someone who just followed your recommendation, may I suggest that whatever you're eluding to may be a local phenomenon?
~m.
I saw a big bright full moon...
Very white with smoke-grey clouds scudding across it. Nice. But then just being outside is nice all by itself.
I saw a streetlight. Am I
I saw a streetlight.
Am I out of the focus group?

Wow
Even with the light pollution, all I can say is, "Wow."

I assume you're talking
I assume you're talking about the way the moon is shining through the clouds, casting big, long bars of shadow and light.
That's really cool. Thanks.
No way, man
You didn't say "Simon says."
"No way, man"
Your loss... What a nice night in Tennessee.
Perhaps I should have said, "May I suggest?"
Taken tonight at 10:35pm.
Taken tonight at 10:35pm. White balance set to daylight because it was. Altitude kind of high, me too. Outside temperature 76 degrees. Madness.
The full moon does that to you.
You know. Mac Davis was
You know. Mac Davis was right. Sometimes you've got to stop and smell the roses. Thanks for the great pic...stunning.
Shine on, harvest
Shine on, harvest moon....

Lovely picture. I was hoping you'd take one.
The clarity and brightness of the moon last night was incredible. Even from my almost downtown viewing perch. The dark scudding clouds with their fringes illuminated aagainst the blackness was simply stunning. Thanks for the picture and for urging me outside to see this.
I love the seas
I don't know why, but I love to look at the moon through a spotting scope. It seems so close.
Kids know so little about it these days, unlike my teenagery when Tranquility Base was occupied.
The Sea of Nectar, the Sea of Fertility, The Marsh of Sleep, and the Sea of Tranquility make up that cluster of dark areas between one and three oclock.
There's also the Sea of Crisis, which is the only fitting name for these meteor craters.
My Mom was furious when they went to the moon
She really thought they ought to leave the moon alone because of all the mystery and romance its presence evoked. Knowing what was really there--"just more dirt and stuff", made her feel awful. "Like finding out Santa Claud wasn't really real."
That's Mom. Some kids never grow up.
I got very wet.
I got very wet.
Turn off the streetlights
... under a full moon. Of course, then I'll just want them off at new moon to get a good look at the stars.
Liberty and justice for all.
My new home
Moon Memory
I can recall looking up at a full moon in 1969 while the first astronauts were there. I was walking on the beach at Kitty Hawk. The moon provided the background and the only light illuminating the Wright Brothers Memorial. It definitely put the brief history of flight in perspective.
Ooh, that's lovely!
It looks like it's shimmering.
Years ago when Edmund
Years ago when Edmund Scientific first introduced what would become the Astroscan 2001 telescope it was a steal at $128 and I bought one. A 4.25" Newtonian Field reflector, it's great for moon gazing.
After they held a contest and came up with that ridiculous name, the popularity (and price) skyrocketed.
In the fall of 1999, when I bought my first digital camera, I played with it in combination with the scope on my front porch. Here is one of the resulting photos.

Nice
I can't quite see the lunar lander, but everything else looks good...(The Marsh of Sleep?...Where did they get those names?)
