Americans elected to...
and gave control of congress to the democrat party, in part appalled by the cost of the war. Now we are told that we must also elect a president from their party as well in order to get the relief we seek and thought we were getting when we delivered into their hands the congress. If a democrat president is elected, when can we expect an end to the war (this time)?
Much sooner than if a Republican gets in. That's a given.
The Dems aren't stupid. They're playing politics right now because they want to get elected. They need to get control of the Presidency and BOTH houses. So far every law they've proposed in a good direction has not passed because the Republicans oppose them. Bush also wields the veto. I do feel frustrated that the Dems haven't been able to do much, but they have done some things they promised. At least they have brought them to the floor and opened up debate. These people are politicians. I might want them to take a stronger stand on many issues to satisfy my own liberal agenda, but I think getting into office is the main thing right now. After they're in, I still believe they will change the direction this country has taken. I may be naive, but I believe they will end the war.
