Dick Morris slams Fred Thompson mercilessly in this Fox News blog post.

"Never going to be viable." "Political lightweight." "Air-headed performances." "Not presidential material." "Complete lack of understanding about critical policy issues." "Out to lunch." "Out of touch." "The ultimate Washington insider."

And those are the nice things he has to say about Thompson.

One wonders what makes him

One wonders what makes him — and his supporters — think that he is, in any way, up to the job.

Um, because they're using Dubya as a yardstick?

Dick Morris doesn't like

Dick Morris doesn't like Hillary either.

With Dick Morris, it's all about the publicity. While I enjoy some of his commentary and he certainly has knowledge on political subjects, I'm never sure if what he says is what he believes or says what he believes will get the most 'play' for him.

I feel somewhat dirty to be

I feel somewhat dirty to be agreeing so whole-heartedly with Dick Morris but, that column isn't unlike what I was saying to some friends a couple of days ago. Thompson's worst nightmare would be for him to get the rethug nomination and for Hillary to get the the dem nod. Hill and Bill will not play fair. Fred would get a new one ripped most every day. Secrets that he has long forgotten will be unearthed by unlikely and apparently unrelated sources. He would eventually run home crying. In the unlikely event of his victory in such a contest, he would be so bloodied as to be a lame duck from the very beginning.

In the final analysis, even if there are Armani labels aplenty and tons of money was spent, an empty suit is still an empty suit.

What the Republicans want

... is an empty suit. Their permanent political apparatus can run the country while Fred strides into photo ops, hits his mark perfectly, and emotes what's on the teleprompter.

Liberty and justice for all.
