An armed robber held up the BB&T Bank on Foothills Plaza Drive in Maryville late this afternoon. A massive manhunt is underway involving dozens of law enforcement units from Maryville and Alcoa City Police and the Blount Co. Sheriff's Department.

The suspect is still at large and considered armed and dangerous. At approx. 4:00 PM, heavily armed officers and K9 units concentrated their search around Foothills Plaza business parking lots and a wooded area between Foothills Plaza and the 129 Bypass. Patrol units were stationed at major intersections in the area.

UPDATE: A Blount Co. Sheriff's Office spokesperson just told KnoxViews that as of 5:15 PM the suspect is still at large. Officials are searching for a white male, mid-20s, possibly wearing a brown t-shirt. The suspect may be driving a red Ford Focus. He may have had a getaway vehicle parked in a Foothills Plaza parking lot behind the bank.

The suspect was wearing a plaid shirt but ditched it while fleeing. Some evidence may have been recovered from a dumpster behind Goody's. This same suspect may have been involved in a similar robbery two weeks ago in Loudon Co. If you have any information that might be helpful, contact the Maryville Police Dept. at 865-273-3700.

UPDATE: A suspect has been arrested.
