It's not exactly a news flash, but it is notable that the KNS finally reports something like this.

Although, they needn't wait for an environmental group to issue a report. All the info is right here.

But TVA is spending $xxx on

But TVA is spending $xxx on pollution, so of course it's fixing the problem! Besides that illogic, they're also spending a lot just trying to fight clean air regulations.

Here's another good link (EDIT: except it doesn't look like it's been updated in a long time).

Yeah, it used to be ONE MILLION DOLLARS PER DAY!

But that didn't sound impressive enough when people started pointing out that $365 million per year is a rounding error on their balance sheet, so they changed to FIVE BILLION DOLLARS!

Except they don't specify a time frame. The time frame starts somewhere in the mid-1970s (just after Richard Nixon started cracking down on polluters) and extends into 2010 or 2020 or something.

Don't quote me on those dates, but it's over decades if I'm not mistaken.

They could install scrubbers on all the boilers at all their plants in a couple of years if they wanted to. They just don't want to because it would be expensive, and they can't borrow money because they are up to their eyeballs in debt for a bunch of nuclear reactors that never got built.
