AG Alberto Gonzales has a new tact when testifying before Congress. He has recused himself from the investigation into the politically motivated firings of U.S. Attorneys because he is the target of some of the inquiries.
So basically he's saying he doesn't have to answer their questions because they are asking him questions. If they weren't asking him questions he could answer them.
Joseph Heller would be proud...

Weird stuff
I don't get that one. Gonzie is clearly in contempt and clearly lying.
Our government is a joke...a really bad joke.
Alberto Gonzalez is a disgrace to our nation...
His embarassing performance before the committee yesterday really took the cake. He's a despicable man in my book. He will publicly eat sh*t to please Bush. How disgusting is that? Gonzalez also seemed to be enjoying his ability to deny any responsibility for anything. I think he actually thought he was clever. Irregardless of the attorney general firings the man won't admit to knowing ANYTHING about the Attorney Genral office's functions. Isn't there any way to get rid of this guy? As pointed out yesterday, his behavior is giving a black eye to the whole justice department.
TPM . . .
has a nice clip of him yesterday
See also this.
Why is this guy still Attorney General?
Brian A.
I'd rather be cycling.
Remember...
It's about the lying...
testify
Obviously Cheney would be comfortable in front of a Senate panel since he has such a wonderful relationship with that body. Some even say he is a member of the legislative branch. Still, I think he'd resign rather than take an oath of honesty.
So let's impeach the bastard this summer while he's getting his artificial soul fitted with a new battery, and if the insult does not kill him, he can resign, then it's W's turn. Can you imagine the endless comedic delight of watching that maggot squirm?
Stewart says it best:
"Alberto Gonzales is saying, basically, there are problems of which he cannot speak, for which he is responsible yet not to blame, and that he is the only one who can clean up the mess that he can neither confirm or deny exists. Let me try to put this in schoolyard terms, if I may: He has smelt it, and while he cannot confirm that he in fact also dealt it, he refuses to deny it on the grounds that it might incriminate him for supplying it."
Jon Stewart
GOOOOO on...
