We finally made it back over to the Foothills Milling Company last night to see if it is still as good as we remember from the first review.

They started us out with a bite of fried grouper to enjoy with our wine as we studied the menu. It was one of the best pieces of fish I've had in a while, and I don't even like fish that much. We tried the Vidalia Onion and Goat Cheese Tart as an appetizer. It's baked in a cornmeal crust and it was excellent. Then they brought us a strawberry sorbet before the entrée. For entrées, The Mrs. had the hanger steak with mushroom tart, and I had the chorizo stuffed lamb sirloin (again) with creamed spinach tart. Both were outstanding.

We had the banana custard with banana and pecan spring roll for dessert. It was the best $8 banana pudding I ever had, although the fired sugar glaze on top was a little hard and sticky for me.

On our first visit, the portions seemed just right. This time they seemed a little large, but that's probably because we had an appetizer that we didn't have the first time. Another observation is that their food is very rich. If you want a light dinner, stick with an appetizer and a salad. As before, prices are still on the high side for around here, but well worth it.

As before, the service was professional and efficient. Some of the staff may have been a little new and not quite as experienced, but they seem to have received good training.

Overall, I still highly recommended The Foothills Milling Company, located at 315 S. Washington St. in Maryville. Reservations are recommended, and can be made at their website or by calling 865-977-8434. If you go before 6PM there's a pretty good chance you can get a table without reservations or waiting. They are open for dinner at 5PM, Tuesday through Saturday.
