AP is reporting that Interior Secretary Gale Norton will resign today. No reason given ahead of the official White House announcement.
Good riddance.
I said dozens of times that if EPA chief Christie Whitman had an ounce of integrity she would resign. She did and she did.
I doubt Norton is resigning for such principled reasons. She's probably done more to endanger our national forests and wilderness areas than anyone in recent memory.
UPDATE: As mentioned by CE Petro in comments, Norton's resignation may be Abramoff related.
P.S. Can't wait to see what kind of clear-cutting, oil-gushing, puppy-killing goon Bush comes up with to replace her. Might be a good opportunity to just outsource the whole thing to Halliburton.

There's a reason
And the reason's name is Abramoff. She's tainted goods.

Can't we all just get a long gun?
I think Bill Baxter would be
I think Bill Baxter would be a good choice for Interior. I'm gonna hate anybody Bush nominates, and at least it would get Baxter out of Knoxpatch.
You've got to be kidding?
You've got to be kidding? You want public enemy number one of the Tennessee Valley ecosystem in charge of our national forests and wilderness areas?
And dealing with Native American Indians? Might want to check with the the Cherokee Nation on that. (Ask them about Echota.)
Real objective
If by integrity you mean someone genuinely committed to protecting our nation's resources for the public good, why would anyone take this position in the Bush administration to begin with?
Clearly, that's not the objective of the White House
Brian A.
I'd rather be cycling.

Umm. Yeah.
