President Bush, July 2, 2003:

There are some who feel like -- that the conditions are such that they can attack us there [Iraq]. My answer is, bring them on. We've got the force necessary to deal with the security situation.

Four years later we've got approximately the same-sized force dealing with the security situation . . . and the insurgents are still bringing it on.

Wow. Didn't we just

Wow. Didn't we just celebrate "Mission Accomplished" day with a presidential veto of funding for the Iraq war and American troops in harms way?

It's all so confusing.

It's been over 2 years since

It's been over 2 years since Cheney pronounced that the insurgency was in its last throes. (5/31/05)

11/30/03 was the beginning of the first "Friedman Unit." We're in the 8th critical "next six months" period since.

4/12/03 was the first day that we realized, thanks to Don Rumsfeld, that "freedom's untidy."

3/16/03 was the day that Cheney, on Meet the Press, said that the Iraq occupation would be a matter of weeks, not months, and also made the remark about how the US would be "greeted as liberators."

1/10/03 was the date that Condi Rice warned us about smoking guns and mushroom clouds.

6/6/2003 was the date Joseph Wilson's What I Didn't Find In Africa printed. Bob Novak's Mission To Niger column appeared on 07/14/03. I guess that anniversary is upon us...
