Let’s get involved!
Blount County Democratic Party
Blount County Democrats meet at 11:30 am on the First Friday of every month at Ryan's Steakhouse at Hunter's Crossing in Alcoa.
I would like to add a special thanks to Joe Gallagher for all his work in helping to build a more unified Democratic Party in Blount County. He was the organizer for the First Friday Luncheons and the Blount County chair of the Kerry-Edwards campaign. Joe is now running for Blount County Mayor.
17 of the 75 petitions turned in for various County offices are from Democrats. One of those candidates is Mark Harmon, University of Tennessee associate professor of journalism and electronic media, former congressional candidate, radio host, and journalist. Mark previously hosted the Left Turn talk radio show on 100.3FM from 3 to 4pm Saturdays. Left Turn is continuing with guest hosts while Mark runs for office. Note, Left Turn is preempted during UT Volunteer football season, but they are a go right now. Good luck to Mark and we suggest everyone turn in to Left Turn for a local perspective on liberal politics.
