These darlings were dumped off on Busbee Road (between Chapman Highway and Taylor Road) one Saturday night in late May. My headlights "hit" this little pile of faces and fortunately I was able to scoop them all up but one (whom I finally got the next morning).

Read more after the jump...

Our local 'angel of mercy' (who'd just hate me for calling her that), Vicky Crosetti with the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley, came out that night and helped me to figure out how to feed them. They were just five weeks old! Vicky has since treated them for fleas, wormed them and tested for diseases (they are all clear!). She has agreed to adopt them out at "Adopt A Pet" when they're old enough/weigh enough to be neutered/spayed. Until then, I've got six little housemates!

What amazes me is how friendly and loving these little kittens are. They were obviously cared for to some degree before being thrown out like so much trash on the side of the road.

Just how cruel can someone be to leave these little babies on the side of a road at night? Especially when there are options for taking them to the Humane Society (less than a mile away) or even the Animal Center.

Just when I think that I can not get more disgusted with human beings, I remember the exceedingly kind ones (like Vicky and the folks at the Humane Society) who tirelessly care for someone else's 'cast offs'.

While you're thinking of these little guys, PLEASE take out your check book and write a generous check to the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley.

Yep. Pleased to report all

Yep. Pleased to report all four of my little darlings were adopted pretty well straight out of the street. One of 'em had a busted-off front fang and a broken tail...and yet he's probably the sweetest of the lot.

I just gotta wonder if the human race isn't starting to face some serious bad juju over our treatment of the other sentient life forms on the planet.

Actually, my mother has a theory that the Christian Bible is not a history book, but a prophecy book and that WE are Adam and Eve and that all that we have accomplished up to now is to take a bite out of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil and that our expulsion from the Garden of Eden is soon coming and then the REAL fun will begin.

Thanks for taking the effort

Thanks for taking the effort to help these kittens. I hope they all find wonderful homes. My border collie mix Bennie and his litter mates were found the same way. I kept Bennie and adopted out the other 3. Bennie is the sweetest, most loving dog I have ever met and somebody threw him away. Some people are not only cruel, but they are idiots.

aaaw...

Now I am reminded of that night in college driving home from a Jefferson Starship concert and my housemate noticed that the yellow line in the rural highway.... had eyes!

Line was my best cat ever.

They ought to be poster babies for the Humane Society

So adorable! I can't even imagine anyone doing that. Thank God you found them. If I wasn't already all cat-ted up, I be whizzing right down there to stake a claim on 'em.

Good on ya for doing the right thing and props to your local humane organization. Just a reminder while we all have our checkbooks out that there are a few wild animal groups around that also help with critters hit by cars, etc.
