From all reports (that I've
From all reports (that I've heard, anyhow), Billy has done a good job. He won't talk about it, but he's let go some "phantom" employees and has people actually coming to work.
DMAC, looking at the
DMAC, looking at the previous post below on Candidates Guide and the candidate's guide (linked below), he can't file a petition for many months.
(link...)
Petitions can't even be
Petitions can't even be picked up until 9/14. Would Billy "career politician" Tindell do a 180 and try to cling to a government job? Possibly. Anything is possible in our county.
people actually coming to work.....
Well I guess you know who will be getting the County employee votes.
"phantom employees"... A word you only hear associated with government work.
Private-sector phantoms
"phantom employees"... A word you only hear associated with government work.
It's two words, actually, and I assume you don't watch much "Sopranos."
Starting early
A list of people who have filed an "Appointment of Treasurer's" form for 2008 is available online at:
(link...)
Cletus and Scott are right. Petitions can't be picked up for months.
Tindell fundraising
So the "Appointment of Treasurer's" form completed and submitted means Billy can start raising funds to run in 2008 for the County Clerk position. And in September he files his petition... so he is no longer warming the seat. I sure hope he runs opposed in the primary.
primary
I hope we have a strong primary for clerk. A choice between Billy and Scoobie would be a tragedy.
Stacey, why don't you run?
Stacey, why don't you run? You've been on a ballot before.
ballot
Cletus, If I have to choose between Scoobie and Billy I will write myself in. I used to have a cat named Cletus.
Shoot, I thought this thread
Shoot, I thought this thread was about CHAD Tindell....
Stacey, don't write yourself
Stacey, don't write yourself in, get ON the ballot.
Geez Rachel, it says Billy
Geez Rachel, it says Billy in the original post.
If elected, I will claim he's my cousin and demand a job.
Dude
just the Democrat side git jobs.
Join the Democrat Party
you would be
the prodigal cuz.
Geez Rachel, it says Billy
Geez Rachel, it says Billy in the original post.
My feeble attempt at a joke.
If elected, I will claim he's my cousin and demand a job.
That's a better one. :)
It's the Democratic Party,
It's the Democratic Party, NOT the Democrat Party. You've been watching too much Fox News.
election etc
If I am to run I need to be prodded with rallies and a draft like Fred Thompson has. On Bill's post, I think Bill was joking in his post, as he said "git" and "cuz."
I chose not to attend church because I don't like the subtle or not so subtle chiding you get in some of them if you participate in certain things, like going to bars or maybe even being a Democrat. But I feel Democrats do the same things to each other. I listen to Rush and O'Reilly some for various reasons, and I swear its feels like hiding behind the high school and smoking because I know Democrats or bloggers would and do react like parents or church members. That said, I also read the NY Times, so I can't be put in any sort of box.
$100 for what?
Billy, oh Billy... why not just come out and say you are running?
(link...)
Question: Would you pay $100 to play golf with Billy? The money is not going to campaign funds, but to his personal slush fund for giving to those many asking him for a gift...?!
Wait, he makes $90,000/ year now. He can afford to give a bunch to all his favorite charities.
Billy
Betty got it right in this weeks shopper.
Billy aint gonna run.
N-S reporting Foster Arnett is thinking about
a run for Clerk.
Moore-Arnett in GOP primary.
Stookesberry democratic front runner.
Billy claims he is not
Billy claims he is not running for clerk (even though he has appointed a treasurer for a CC campaign) and that the money he raises for that office will be given away? Wouldn't that be a violation campaign finance rules? I was under the impression that if you appoint a treasurer for a specific office as Billy has done, the monies must be spent on expenses for that campaign.

demanding a job from cousin Billy? Since he has been unable to get a job from Mayor Ragsdale, Sheriff Hutchison, Law Director Moyers or anyone else in the courthouse. Since he was unable to be elected County Commissioner or General Sessions Judge.
This is his only hope.
To be clear, I have never
To be clear, I have never asked for and would not want a job from Mayor Ragsdale, Sheriff Hutchison, Law director Moyers or anyone else in the courthouse. I ran a good race for Judge. I am thankful to have a successful law practice.
Unlike some Republican Chairmen, I didn't do it to kiss-up or feather my own nest. I did it to better the Party. I left the local GOP in much better shape than when I started. Again, some Chairmen can't make that statement...not by a longshot.

At least he writes just as bad. Brian, your children have some great text books teaching English. In them you will find how to construct a sentence and the correct use of punctuation.
I liked the CBT joke. Your posts must be followed by the troll.
My question about Billy's $100 fund raiser is why would anyone give to the cause so Billy could donate the money to charity? If a persons donates to the charity of their choice it is tax deductible. A campaign contribution is not.
I thought of doing a poll but basically we can reasonably assume that Billy is seeing how much he can raise, how much interest he can drum up, and then he will come out and say "I was asked by many people to run". Therefore he does not have to admit to openly lying to us all now. I know it is what career politicians do, it just peeves me seeing them do it.
Can Billy really get county wide support?

hmmmm...seems to be a charred bridge here on Tindell Lane. I might have to take Arnett Drive to avoid the train wreck on Scoobie Way.
Stooksbury Street is getting
Stooksbury Street is getting more traffic and has no potholes to avoid. Arnett Drive may be a one way, the wrong way.
I did not care for the way
I did not care for the way Arnett did his job as a KPD spokesperson, particularly when he spread the rumor that Andre Stenson was hopped up on cocaine when he had his fatal encounter with KPD. When the autopsy/toxicology report came back clean, Arnett was reprimanded, although I always thought he took the fall for some higher-ups on that deal. The culture at KPD was difficult in those days, although it went largely ignored because there was so much zeal to catch the sheriff with his pants down (so to speak).
IV Owen has done a really good job of getting a handle on things and running a straight-up department.
My short-term memory is shot, but I have a very clear recollection of events (if not exact dates) that I covered years ago. We are talking maybe 1999 -- Danny Mayfield was still on City Council at that time.
Billy
"Tindell flatly says he is not going to run
next year." Shopper News Monday.
I trust Billy;he has never told me anything that
wasn't true.
I've not ask Billy if he was running.
Betty has.
I also haven't ask him if
he will run for Register of Deeds.
So,for all I know,Billy will
run for Register of Deeds.
OR President.
Unlike some...
Ouch.
No surprises
No surprises here.

Tindell not a seat warmer?
So Scabbie is going for the bucks, as you said, no surprise. Can he win a county wide race, especially after Black Wednesday? We can hope that the escapades of that day will come out of court close to the election. Is that wishing for too much? But what if, God forbid, he should win, who would become Chair of commission?
